MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC WORKS & SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE <br /> August 17, 2020 <br /> Meeting held virtually <br /> Present: Councilmembers Rader, Shachner& Bullock <br /> Also Present: Planning Director Leininger, Assistant Law Director Swallow, Public Works <br /> Director Ducu, Clerk Bach taking minutes, Deputy Clerk Lascu and members of the public <br /> Call to Order: 5:00 p.m. <br /> Approval of the minutes of the July 27, 2020 Public Works & Sustainability Committee. <br /> A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes of the July 27, 2020 Public Works & <br /> Sustainability Committee. <br /> A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas: Rader, Shachner, Bullock <br /> Nays: none <br /> Motion passed. Minutes approved. <br /> RESOLUTION 2020-44 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br /> dedicating six (6)parcels (Exhibit A) currently owned by the City of Lakewood, Bernice <br /> Pyke Park on August 18th 2020, the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th <br /> Amendment. <br /> Councilmember Rader explained that the resolution creates Bernice Pyke Park on the land where <br /> now sits St. Charles Green. The substitute version incorporates a legal description of the space. <br /> Assistant Director Swallow explained that the City had a land survey performed to formally <br /> define the property. The legal description attached is a result of that survey. <br /> At the request of Councilmember Bullock, the committee viewed an aerial depiction of the <br /> property from the Planning Commission docket. <br /> The committee discussed that the portion of land adjacent to the tracks is still owned by Norfolk <br /> Southern. The City has attempted to discuss purchasing or leasing the land from Norfolk <br /> Southern in the past but there have been communication challenges. It will continue to try and <br />
