Section 1. That this Council and Administration will pledge to transform our laws and <br />standards, and call on our State and Federal governments to transform its laws, to ensure equity, <br />security, and benefits for workers that are worthy of their labor and their dignity, including but not <br />limited to enforceable protections for the essential workers exposed to additional risks from their <br />work during the pandemic, by providing for all workers, regardless of status: <br />• Health and safety protections at work. <br />• Robust premium compensation. <br />• The honoring of commitments regarding job quality standards, including collective <br />bargaining agreements for union members. <br />• Truly universal paid sick leave and family and medical leave. <br />• Protection from retaliation for whistleblowers. <br />• An end to carve -outs and loopholes in our labor laws that misclassify workers and exclude <br />others from basic labor protections altogether. <br />• Health care security. <br />• Affordable childcare available for every working family. <br />• Treatment of workers as experts. <br />• Accountability for companies that shirk their responsibilities to their workers. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is authorized and directed to transmit a copy of this <br />resolution to Lakewood's representatives in Congress. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />r <br />Adopted: <br />P DENT <br />'�J <br />CLERK <br />Approved: <br />MAYOR <br />
