Provide a brief narrative description of your idea:
To help the Anti -Racism Task Force be successful in their transformational mission, this funding will
provide for the hiring of a consultant to work with the task force, administration and city departments
to develop communication, collaboration, and implementation strategies with each city department,
and for educational, relational and community building programming for the task force members, city
employees and Lakewood residents and business owners. Additionally, this funding will allow the task
force to call subject matter experts as needed per Resolution 2020-41 which outlined their formation.
2. Briefly explain how this will benefit the community:
Council and the Mayor have already recognized the extensive damage systemic racism causes to all
members of the community. It will also reduce the burden on volunteer task force members,
help guide successful implementation, and increase community confidence.
3.
