Provide a brief narrative description of your idea: <br />The following streets are major cut through streets that have had speed problems for years: Granger, <br />Larchmont, and Cordova. Based upon residents' feedback the speeding drivers have clipped parked <br />cars sideview mirrors causing damage. In addition, the high speeds create a serious safety issue for <br />residents, children, walkers, and bikers. The speeding issues are a persistent complaint from <br />residents. <br />2. Briefly explain how this will benefit the community: <br />Managing the speed on the three cut through streets will greatly enhance the safety for drivers, <br />pedestrians, bikers, and all residents. The 2019 Community Vision Update for safety includes <br />keeping residents secure and confident. Eliminating speeding traffic is necessary to instill safety on <br />residential streets, which will assist keeping residents secure and confident in their neighborhood. <br />3. Estimated expense (provide a range): <br />Approximately $45,000 <br />4. If applicable, describe any past proposals or discussions that are related to this priority. <br />Council and City Administration have collectively implemented traffic calming measures on other streets. <br />5. If applicable, describe any preliminary discussions you have had with colleagues, the administration <br />and/or your constituents about this priority. <br />I have communicated with the Ward 1 Community Police Officer about the three streets listed above <br />and the speed concerns on each. In addition, there has been communications with the Director of <br />Planning & Development and a member of his staff. <br />
