Provide a brief narrative description of your idea: <br />The COVID-1 9 pandemic has accelerated the rate at which consumers move to delivery and <br />curbside retail and takeout. By allocating Economic Development funds for the exploring <br />development of a local online marketplace and delivery product, the City will be empowering our <br />local small businesses to compete and potentially expand to an export economy. This exploratory <br />phase will bring in stakeholders for a collaborative deep dive into the problem and research into <br />potential technological and strategic solutions. This process will identify if and how to move forward <br />with a more significant investment. <br />2. Briefly explain how this will benefit the community: <br />Businesses will benefit from increased sales and consumer satisfaction. Consumers will benefit from <br />increased conveniences, and residents will benefit from maintained storefronts, local employment - <br />opportunities, local business investment in the community, increased revenues for city services and <br />retained or increased home -values from a thriving business community. <br />3. Estimated expense (provide a range): <br />257000-307000 <br />4. If applicable, describe any preliminary discussions you have had with colleagues, the administration <br />and/or your constituents about this priority. <br />Lakewood Alive Executive Director Ian Andrews, Development Director Shawn Leininger, Mayor <br />George, and members of the Mayor's Small Business Task Force, Uptown and Downtown Merchant <br />Groups. Additionally constituents have expressed their desire to increase ease of shopping local. <br />
