RESOLUTION NO.2020-63 <br />Please Subs Uht:u_ -e <br />I <br />Bullock, Kepple, Titten, Neff, <br />BY:O' Malley, Rader, Shachner <br />i <br />A RESOLUTION calling upon the citizens of Lakewood to participate in fire prevention <br />activities at home, and to heed the message, "Serve up Fire Prevention in the Kitchen," as the <br />2020 Fire Prevention Week theme suggests. <br />WHEREAS, the kitchen is the leading area of origin for home fires, and most kitchen <br />fires are caused by cooking; and <br />WHEREAS, roughly 3,000 kitchen fires are reported per day in the United States; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department is dedicated to reducing the occurrence of <br />kitchen fires and injuries through prevention education; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Prevention Bureau will conduct virtual fire safety educa- <br />tion October 4 through October 10, to educate children about the importance of fire safety in the <br />kitchen; and <br />WHEREAS, Fire Prevention Week effectively serves to remind us all of the simple ac- <br />tions we can take to stay safe from kitchen fires at home; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. This Council and Mayor designate and proclaim October 4-10, 2020, as Fire <br />Prevention Week in the City of Lakewood and call upon the citizens of Lakewood to participate <br />in fire prevention activities at home. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward <br />a copy of this Resolution to Chief Tim Dunphy, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, <br />Lakewood, Ohio and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3.
