2020 Building Department Year in Review <br /> 2021 Budget Hearing <br /> Department Updates <br /> To Conform to Social distancing guidelines and provide solutions during the Covid-19 pandemic: <br /> o We were able to implement remote inspections using our Citizenserve software to help service our <br /> constituents. <br /> o We enhanced the ability for applicants to submit plans through our online portal or email, <br /> providing an all-electronic approval process. <br /> o Where plans exceeded the size capability of our software and email systems, we implemented a <br /> drop box option to submit plans and permits for approval. <br /> o We implemented policies and procedures to keep our workforce safe during the pandemic while <br /> maintaining service levels. <br /> o We plan to re-implement the commercial building inspection pilot program when the Covid-19 <br /> restrictions are lifted. <br /> o We plan to reorganize our property maintenance inspection group into Commercial and <br /> Residential sections, reassigning one full time employee to start the program. <br /> o We plan to expand the career ladder opportunities for our administrative staff with a goal to <br /> improve customer service. <br /> o We plan to ramp-up property maintenance inspections and in particular code compliance <br /> inspections (POS type) once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. <br /> o We hired an Electrical Safety Inspector after a 9 month search filling a critical need in our <br /> department. <br /> o We have created a succession plan for our department that will help anticipate future needs. <br /> Page 2 of 2 <br />
