26. Communication from Mayor George regarding a mayoral re-appointment to the Civil <br /> Service Commission. (pg. 088) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. <br /> A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed. The communication was received and filed. <br /> 27. Communication from Mayor George regarding the creation of a LGBTQ City and Police <br /> Liaison. (pg. 089) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. <br /> Discussion: President O'Malley expressed his thanks to the Mayor and pointed to the positive <br /> effect this action will have on the Municipal Equality Index. He provided references to past <br /> efforts to ensure equality for the LGBTQ community in Lakewood and the controversy and <br /> debate that surrounded those efforts at the time. Councilmember Kepple asked if there is any <br /> special training required for the liaison to act in the role. Mayor George indicated that there <br /> isn't any specific training required, but that she is working with Director Dillinger on <br /> implementing anti-racism & LGBTQ training that will be made available to all city staff. <br /> On the motion: A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br /> Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays —None <br /> Motion passed. The communication was received and filed. <br /> 28. Communication from Director Rancatore regarding accepting CARES Act Grant from <br /> Cuyahoga County. (pg. 090) <br /> President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the <br /> communication. <br /> Discussion: Mayor George acknowledged ChiefofStaffStorey for his work on the CARES Act <br /> application and noted that Lakewood finished in the top S for amount offunding received. <br /> A roll call vote was taken as follows: <br />
