Public Safety Committee report regarding meeting held January 4, 2021. (to be provided) Councilmember Neff read the following oral report into the record: The committee had a short discussion about the Edwards Ave. parking study, which resulted from the city receiving resident complaints as the Truck Park was first opening. The study was well done, but the city has not had opportunity to sit down with establishment owners in the area that will help the situation. Councilmember Bullock and I will help city facilitate communication. The other topic discussed was the neighborhood-policing program. All councilmembers expressed concern aboutprogram going away, however the Lakewood Police Department culture supports community policing. There were 10 plus officer vacancies this past year due to unforeseen circumstances. The community policing program may not be fully staffed until a year from now, as the department undertakes a robust vetting process to get the right officers in place. Councilmember Neff made a motion, seconded by President O'Malley to receive and file the oral report. A roll call vote was taken as follows: Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, O'Malley, Neff, Rader, Shachner Nays —None Motion passed. The oral report was received and filed. President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to suspend the rules so that items 45 though 412 could be read consecutively.
