Communication from Law Director Corrigan regarding settlement agreement with Jeffrey & Jean Ritchie (pg. 86) President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Vice President Litten to receive and file the communication. A roll call vote was taken as follows: Yeas —Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Neff, O'Malley, Rader, Shachner Nays —None Motion passed. The communication was received and filed. 20. RESOLUTION 2021-11 -A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, authorizing the Mayor and Director of Law to enter into an agreement with Jeffrey Ritchie and Jean Ritchie,in the amount of$13,500.00 for the full and final settlement of all claims raised in and related to the demolition of Lakewood Hospital. (pg. 87) President O'Malley made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Rader to adopt Resolution 2021-11. Discussion: Vice President Litten asked if other houses that were impacted have been sorted through. Director Corrigan noted that other homes did not have as serious damage, so they were settled for amounts that were below the threshold that required Council approval. President O'Malley inquired about who was making the payment. Director Corrigan stated he believes they are moral claims that the city is assuming. Vice President Litten stated his appreciation that the city stepped up and took care of those affected by damage.
