Report from Health& Human Services Committee meeting held February 22, 2021. <br /> (to be provided) <br /> Vice President Litten delivered the following oral report: <br /> The Health & Human Service Committee met on February 22nd with all members present, as <br /> well as Councilmembers Bullock, Shachner, and Neff. Members of the administration, staff, <br /> and one member of the public were there too. We first disposed of our minutes and the <br /> nmoved onto Ordinance 20-2021 to establish full parental leave benefits for employees of the <br /> city of Lakewood. I would break the discussion up into 3 parts: the health and wellness <br /> benefits of the legislation, the labor negotiation implications, and any financial implications. <br /> Mayor George introduced the legislation and discussed the benefits to and for employees, <br /> both the birth parent and non-birth parent. Director Dillinger shared her personal <br /> experience, along with others. Assistant Law Director Swallow noted that the state is doing <br /> this with its employees, along with other municipalities. The average amount it cost over the <br /> last three years averages out to be about$32,000 annually. We had our share ofdifferent <br /> things that the city spends a similar sum on that are less impacful in their nature. We noted <br />
