John Palmer of Brockley Ave spoke as a member of the former Tree Task Force. Mr. Palmer is a <br /> master arborist and has a certification in tree risk assessment. He recommended that the <br /> ordinance be more specific in its definitions and gave suggestions. He suggested that arborist be <br /> better defined. He also suggested that"best practices" and "protocols"refer to specific best <br /> practices and protocols within the field. <br /> Matt Krems of the Tree Board expressed support for the version of the ordinance in which the <br /> Tree Board is not part of the decision-making process on tree removal. He expressed support for <br /> trusting the professional arborists on staff to make those decisions. He asked what would happen <br /> if strenuous objections to a tree's removal were heard. <br /> Matt Satnik of the Public Works Department remarked on the professional experience and <br /> knowledge of the City arborists. <br /> Councilmember Rader stated that the Committee would meet again to conclude this discussion. <br /> A motion was made and seconded to defer Ordinance 39-2021. A roll call vote was conducted as <br /> follows: <br /> Yeas: Bullock, Rader, Shachner <br /> Nays: none <br /> Motion adopted.
