Lakewood, Ohio (PPN 311-21-062045) for a period of 180 days, pursuant to Section
155.07 of the Codified Ordinances. (I"read and referred to HPD 617121) (pg. 002)
Motion by President O'Malley, seconded by Councilmember Litten to defer Ordinance 20-
2021.
Discussion: President O'Malley expressed support for the project. In response to a question
Development Officer Wyman stated that the income guidelines are updated annually.
On the motion: All members voted in favor. Motion passed. Ordinance 20-2021 deferred.
3. Committee report regarding Public Works & Sustainability meeting held June 21, 2021.
(to be provided)
Chairman Rader issued the following report:
The Public Works & Sustainability Committee met today. We were all present as well as
members of the administration Directors Ducu and Leininger. The only item up for debate,
and ultimate passage was Resolution 2021-25, which allows the administration to apply for
the Nature's Work grant which will be $150,000 to go toward the Foster Pool improvements.
We talked about that project. There will be a couple documents that will be coming to
Committee on that. The administration will also keep Council in the loop on the progress of
Foster Pool. Also, there was a great survey the city had done that had 670 respondents.Ninety-
five percent of respondents said that they wanted to see these improvements at our pool. We
are really excited that the community welcomes this improvement to our city, and that it is
going to come soon, and that we are applying for money to get this process started. We did
unanimously recommend adoption of this resolution tonight.
We did have one member of the public comment on Granicus about whether or not these
funds can be used for baseball fields in addition to the pools and maybe that could apply later
on. I think the administration is going to look into that as an option as we move forward with
our discussions with the Rec Department, we will take that into consideration.
Motion by Councilmember Rader, seconded by President O'Malley to receive and file the
report. All members voted in favor. Motion passed.
4. RESOLUTION 2021-25 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it
receives the affirmative vote of at least five members of Council, or otherwise to take effect
and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, authorizing the Mayor, Director of
Public Works and City Engineer, to submit an application for the NatureWorks Grant
through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, to execute any and all agreement
necessary to accept an award and to obligate funds required to complete the project to
become eligible for reimbursement under the grant program. (Referred to PWS 617121)
(pg. 004)
