Resolution 2021-34 recommended for adoption. <br /> RESOLUTION 2021-22 - A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br /> appointing and to the Anti-Racism Task Force. <br /> (Referred to COW 617121) <br /> The Mayor and Director Gelsomino discussed the work of the Task Force and its schedule. The <br /> Task Force is intended to be an ongoing Task Force. Director Gelsomino expressed support for <br /> soliciting new applicants. The Committee discussed re-posting the position and agreed to do so. <br /> Communication from Councilmembers Neff& Shachner regarding the July 4h parade. <br /> (Referred to COW 716121) <br /> Mayor George explained that at the time that planning usually commences for the July 41' <br /> parade, the state was still following many COVID-related restrictions. By the time the <br /> restrictions lifted, there was not enough time to successfully prepare for the parade. As far as <br /> planning for a Labor Day parade, the Mayor remarked that six weeks' time is not enough to <br /> assemble parade walkers, volunteers, and to rally the public safety staff needed. She expressed <br /> enthusiasm for next years' parade. <br /> The Committee discussed the City's vaccination rates and the delta variant. The average <br /> vaccination rates are very high. However, there are a few census tracts with rates in the 30-40% <br /> range. Director Gelsomino shared that targeted outreach is being planned for the second week of <br /> August. <br /> President O'Malley acknowledged the great work that goes into the parade each year and the <br /> Mayor's explanation of why it could not go forward this year. <br />
