Kepple f Litten f Neff <br />Of Malley, Rader, Shaehner <br />RESOLUTION 2021-48 BY: <br />A RESOLUTION to recognize the heroic, life-saving acts of members of the Lakewood <br />Division of Fire, Lakewood Division of Police, Lakewood Public Works Department, and <br />Kufner Towing, Incorporated to rescue an entrapped individual at a construction site on Thoreau <br />Avenue on August 11 "' 2 02 1. <br />WHEREAS, an individual had been working in a trench when a mini excavator fell into <br />the space, landing on him and pinning him; and, <br />WHEREAS, bringing the full force of their training to bear, members of the Division of <br />Fire entered the confined space, successfully stabilized the machinery with cribbing and air bags, <br />and provided direct medical attention to the patient; and, <br />WHEREAS, in an inspiring display of teamwork, Lakewood Police, Lakewood Public <br />Works employees and Kufner Towing personnel then worked in concert with the Division of <br />Fire to deploy heavy equipment, including a crane, to lift the excavator off the patient; and, <br />WHEREAS, the patient was then extricated by firefighters and rapidly transported to a <br />Metro Hospital Life Flight helicopter staged a block away, which rushed him to Metro, where he <br />ultimately was able to recover from his serious injuries; now therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO. <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor hereby show their appreciation and gratitude to <br />the members of the Lakewood Division of Fire, Lakewood Police, Lakewood Public Works <br />Department, and Kufner Towing personnel who all contributed to this life-saving rescue. Their <br />professionalism and sense of duty make the city of Lakewood extremely proud and grateful for <br />their dedicated service. <br />Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: � W 144, <br />Approved: <br />1 J. 019 <br />' lley, Council Presi en <br />t <br />�V_ &:6L <br />Maureen M.
