Director Gelsomino spoke to her department's collaboration with the Planning Department <br /> on designing and programming spaces at the Cove Intergenerational Center. She also spoke <br /> about Human Services'work with Metro's Institute of HOPE to build trauma informed team <br /> for the community center. <br /> Both directors spoke about department operations such as meal delivery, social worker <br /> outreach,well check calls, senior transportation, and youth services. Human Services was <br /> awarded $450,000 contract with the county Department of Children &Families and served <br /> 332 families with that funding. <br /> Human Services remains committed to providing a safety net in 2022 and is looking to <br /> expand H2O into a senior program, establish tech resources for older&low-income <br /> residents, and investigate Cove Center rental potential. <br /> Councilmembers thanked Director Gelsomino for her years of service and leadership. They <br /> also expressed their support for senior transportation expenses in the budget. <br /> *Proposed Substitute to be provided* ORDINANCE 38-2021 -AN ORDINANCE to take <br /> effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of <br /> the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect and be in force at the earliest <br /> period allowed by law, to establish appropriations for current expenses and other <br /> expenditures of the City of Lakewood, State of Ohio, for the fiscal year ending <br /> December 31, 2021.
