Chief Kaucheck reported that a second school resource officer will be starting in the fall. He <br /> stated that Lakewood Park does not have a dedicated officer, though officers are encouraged to <br /> walk and drive through the park as their schedules allow. He explained that the new park <br /> ambassador will be relied upon as the dedicated eyes and ears of the park. Mr. Storey provided <br /> the Committee with an update on the park ambassador hiring process. They are still working on <br /> recruiting and hope to have an ambassador in the park with in a few weeks. Mr. Storey also <br /> provided an update on the basketball court staffing. <br /> The Committee and the Chief discussed the Auxiliary Police and their role in the community as <br /> well as Animal Control. <br /> In response to a question, Chief Kaucheck explained that officers had a recent training with the <br /> Law Department to understand the state's new conceal carry law. <br /> Chairman Baker called for the communication to be received and filed. <br /> Public Safety Committee adjourned at 7:35 p.m. <br /> 3 <br />
