Alysia Moliatu
Location:
Submitted At: 3:51 pm 07-18-22
Lakewood skatepark is an important part of our community. It's another great place where people can come
together to support and inspire one another. The camp that is offered to kids throughout the summer is what
every future skateboarder would want. A brand new skateboard, encouraging leaders, clean and smooth
environment, and the most important new friends. Lakewood skatepark deserves the support of the expansion
that way we can continue to offer more great opportunities to its supporters and help stand out as a community.
Vince Frantz
Location:
Submitted At: 3:41 pm 07-18-22
Thank you for supporting the skatepark in this year's budget and we hope to see it continue in the 2023 budget!
Since then our skateboard camps sold out within 24 hours of opening and we have seen the skateboarder
population continue to grow and diversify within the city and the skatepark still attracting people from all over to
visit from around the region. After 17 years, the skatepark has become a cherished part of many adults' childhood
memories and each year a new set of parents and kids discover and appreciate the public space created by the
Tom George Administration & Council.
Expanding the skatepark will allow skaters and families to add their input to help shape the park for 17 more
years! Thank you for making this amenity a priority for the coming year!
Amanda Dempsey
Location:
Submitted At: 3:30pm 07-18-22
We fully support the skatepark expansion! This was our first summer taking advantage of this gem. After one
week of camp, our kids visited daily and were always welcomed not matter how busy or that they were so much
younger. They were supported by older skaters through encouragement to keep trying and giving them space to
build confidence as they tried new skills. Expanding this park will increase opportunities for Lakewood families
and we ask for you to support with this budget item.
Ann Marie Grimberg
Location:
Submitted At: 2:52pm 07-18-22
1 support the expansion of the Lakewood Skate Park as a budget priority to encourage the further use of this
wonderful communal space. In our experience, it has been the most welcoming public space in our city for
children and adults alike. Our daughter is always greeted by a diverse group of people willing to help her and
offer her words of encouragement as she continues to learn the sport of skateboarding. This gem of Lakewood
could benefit even more individuals by expanding and allowing for further community involvement. To me,
Lakewood Skate Park is what our city is all about!
