to first offer available overtime to Full -Time Dispatchers according to the <br />procedure specified in the Dispatchers' contract. Upon following the <br />procedure, prior to requiring a Dispatcher to hold over and requiring a <br />Dispatcher to report early, the OIC shall contact a PTD to see if they are able <br />to cover the shift. <br />9. Should the Dispatcher volunteer to work a scheduled regular day off, the <br />number of hours to be worked shall be agreed upon by the Administrative <br />Captain or designee and no additional hours shall be added except as agreed <br />upon by the volunteer, pursuant to established policy. <br />10. If, due to reduced staffing levels, Dispatchers are required to work extended <br />periods of overtime duty to fill positions, the Chief of Police may approve the <br />use of Police Officers as Dispatchers on a limited basis. To perform this <br />function, Police Officers utilized in the Dispatch Center must be qualified and <br />trained, not called in on overtime and not adversely impact patrol staffing. <br />B. OVERTIME OF LESS THAN FOUR (4) HOURS <br />1. Offer available overtime by seniority (high to low) to Dispatchers on duty. If <br />refused: <br />2. Offer available overtime by seniority (high to low) to Dispatchers working the <br />next shift. If refused: <br />3. Require the least senior Dispatcher on duty to work the available overtime. <br />15.02 A record of all overtime hours worked by each employee shall be recorded in Precinct <br />Manager on a payroll period basis. <br />15.03 The provisions of this article related to equalization shall not apply to employees who <br />arrange for compensatory time coverage. <br />15.04 If qualified and trained, police officers on restricted duty status can fill openings in the <br />communications center if needed. Police officers must be on regular scheduled duty, not called <br />in for overtime to fill such vacancy. <br />ARTICLE 16 GENERAL LEAVE <br />16.01 All leaves of absence must be applied for and granted in writing on forms provided by the <br />City (copy to the employee). An employee will be notified in writing within three (3) working <br />days from the date the application was made of the approval or disapproval of any leave of <br />absence. A full-time employee shall accumulate seniority during any leave of absence, except <br />during personal leaves of absence. Upon returning from leaves of absence, the Union will <br />receive notification of the employee's status. No leave will be granted for working other <br />employment. <br />12 <br />
