(P'read and referred to HPD 1117122) (pg. 11) <br /> Discussion: Law Director Vargo requested the latest version of the legislation and will work <br /> with Council before the next meeting to ensure it is ready to move forward. <br /> President Litten explained that he is willing to defer Ordinance 12-2021A, so long as that does <br /> not cause an interruption in the existing pay to stay policy. Councilmember Rader confirmed <br /> with Law Director Vargo that the current ordinance is in effect until the end of the year, so there <br /> is time for Ordinance 12-2021A to be passed by that time. <br /> Motion by President Litten, seconded by Vice President Kepple to defer Ordinance 12-2021 A. <br /> All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> 6. Report from the Finance Committee regarding meeting held November 21, 2022. <br /> Councilmember Shachner gave the following Oral Report: <br /> Today was the kickoff of the Finance Committee Budget hearings. We started with an overview <br /> of our Finance Director Rancatore then went with the Council office Budget presented by <br /> Maureen Bach then a presentation from Mayor George about the Mayor's Office budget. I <br /> believe it was all very informative. Everybody asked great questions and were right on <br /> schedule. I am looking forward to the next ones in the following weeks. <br /> Motion by Councilmember Shachner, seconded by President Litten to receive and file oral <br /> communication. All in favor. Motion passed. <br /> ***NEW BUSINESS*** <br /> 7. Communication from Vice President Kepple regarding an Anti-LGBTQ+ Resolution <br /> before the State Board of Education. (to be provided) <br /> Vice President Kepple delivered the following prepared oral communication: <br /> I wanted to thank you President Litten for allowing me to make this last-minute addition and <br /> particularly thank Clerk Bach for accommodating it. She and the council staff have a huge job <br /> to get the meeting agendas all pulled together so I normally wouldn't ask to make this addition <br /> but for when we have something that comes forward that is critical and has a timely matter. <br /> As you all may know, in June the US Department of Education's officefor Civil Rights released <br /> a notice of interpretation explaining that title EV s prohibition on discrimination on the basis of <br /> 4 <br />
