4.03 An employee shall have the right to revoke such authorization by giving written notice to the <br />City and the Local Union Treasurer at any time. Revocation of Union membership does nor revoke <br />union dues authorization, which may be revoked as set forth below. <br />Any voluntary dues checkoff authorization shall be irrevocable, regardless of whether an employee <br />has revoked Union membership, for a period of one (1) year from the date of the execution of the <br />due's checkoff authorization and for year to year thereafter, unless the employee gives employer and <br />the Union written notice of revocation not less than ten (10) days and not more than twenty-five (25) <br />days before the end of any yearly period. Copies of employees' dues checkoff authorization cards <br />are available from the Union upon request. <br />4.04 The City's obligation to make deduction shall terminate automatically upon termination of <br />employment or transfer to a job classification outside the bargaining unit. <br />4.05 The parties agree that the employer assumes no obligation, financial or otherwise, arising out <br />of the provisions of this Article regarding the deduction of union dues. The Union hereby agrees that <br />it will indemnify and hold the employer harmless from any claims, actions or proceedings by any <br />employee arising from deductions made by the employer pursuant to the Article, unless specifically <br />accepted above. <br />4.06 Employees may authorize the City to deduct voluntary contributions to Public Employees <br />Organized to Promote Legislative Equality (PEOPLE) by payroll deductions (check -off). Upon <br />receipt of the employee's PEOPLE deduction authorization, the City shall make the deduction and <br />remit monthly to PEOPLE all such deducted contributions. PEOPLE contributions shall be deducted <br />and processed separately from dues or fair share deductions. <br />4.07 The City authorizes ACH transfer payment of Union dues. <br />Section 1. Upon the presentation of a written deduction authorization signed by the <br />employee, the employer shall deduct Union dues, initiation fees, and assessments from the pay of <br />bargaining unit employees in accordance with the terms of this executed authorization. The Union <br />shall notify the Employer of the amounts to be deducted. Deductions shall be made from the pay of <br />employees (monthly/biweekly). <br />Section 2. Previously signed and un-revoked authorization cards shall continue to be <br />effective for current and reinstated employees. <br />Section 3. All dues deductions shall be deposited via electronic ACH transfer payment into <br />the commercial bank account of Ohio Council 8 , AFSCME, AFL-CIO no later than fifteen (15) <br />days following the end of the pay period in which the deduction is made. The Union shall provide <br />the Employer with authorization to make deposits into the financial institution utilized by the Union <br />along with the routing number and account number of the Union's account information. <br />Section 4. The Employer shall email, with each deduction and transmittal of dues/fees, the <br />following lists of information in Excel or Text format to oc8ducs 4afscmc8.orR subject line: Local <br />1043, Pay date <br />
