(Referred to HPD 10/18/21) <br /> Councilmember Bullock referenced previous discussions held in committee on the topic of <br /> affordable housing. He invited committee members to provide updates and bring any new ideas <br /> forward. He remarked on the current housing trends and announced he would have the <br /> committee host a panel of experts at an upcoming meeting. <br /> Director Leininger provided an update on work being done in the Planning Department to craft <br /> legislation to promote accessory dwelling units and second units. He also provided a summary of <br /> a recent exercise with the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy regarding housing. The committee <br /> discussed new data on housing supply that came out of this exercise. Councilmember Bullock <br /> advocated for including a councilmember in these exercises and also for more attention to <br /> affordable family-size housing. Councilmember Bullock expressed his continued commitment to <br /> this topic. He asked for councilmembers and/or staff to be included in the drafting of the <br /> forthcoming legislation on ADUs. Councilmember Shachner expressed confidence in the <br /> existing working relationship between himself and the Planning Department in the drafting of <br /> this legislation. <br /> Public Comment <br /> Kate McBride—W. Clifton Rd. —Ms. McBride was present as a member of the Anti-Racism <br /> Task Force.
