<br />MINUTES <br />OF A MEETING OF <br />LAKEWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> AUDITORIUM <br />OCTOBER 2, 2023 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />Regular Meeting of the Lakewood City Council called to order at 7:34 PM by President Litten. <br />**** <br /> <br />Present: Councilmembers Kyle Baker, John Litten, Cindy Marx, Tristan Rader, Jason Shachner, <br />Sarah Kepple, Tom Bullock <br />Also Present: Mayor George, Finance Director Rancatore, Public Works Director Gordon, Fire <br />Chief Dunphy, Law Director Vargo,Planning Director Leininger, Human Resources Director <br />Dillinger, Human Services Director Berry, Police Chief Fischer. <br />**** <br />Motion by President Litten, seconded by Vice President Kepple to approve the minutes of the <br />September 18, 2023 General Meeting without the necessity of a reading. All in favor. Motion <br />passed. <br />Without objection, President Litten moved items 6 and 8 to the top of the agenda. <br />***OLD BUSINESS*** <br />1.Report from Finance Committee regarding meeting held September 25, 2023. (to be <br />provided) <br />Councilmember Shachner delivered the following report: <br />Last week we had aFinance Committee Meeting on September 25. The main thrust of <br />that meeting was to go overCouncil’s budget priorities and also to have participation <br />from the public regarding their priorities for the 2024 budget. There weremany topics <br />discussed and introduced by residents. One woman wants Lakewood’s Birdtown <br />parking lot, which is a city owned parcel on the corner of Madison and Newman, to be <br />converted into a 30-space parking lot. That issue was brought to our attention. I know <br />Councilmember Marx has been working on this issue as well.The city previously had <br />this initiative in the capital improvement plan but was holding it due to budget <br />constraints. However, now that we do have some ARPA funds, this initiativemay be <br />something that we could dedicate money to. It also may be something that we can put <br />on the administration’s radar to possibly prioritize in next year’s budget. The next topic <br />brought up by the public involved hiring an operations manager for the newly renovated <br />1 <br /> <br />
