<br /> ( ) <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1645 By Mr. Hildie <br />AN ORD!NANCE to require the Mayor to report to Council all available <br />information needed in the consideration of constructing and operating <br />a municipal water plant and authorizing the employment of an expert <br />to assist in securing necessary information and fixing his compensation. <br />WHEREAS, this Council r8quires all available information for use of <br />the City and its officers in determining the advisability of con struct- <br />ing a plant with equipment to supply the City of Lakewood and its in- <br />habitants with water, a,nd <br />WHEREAS, it is deemed advisable to empl~y an expert to assist the Mayor <br />in the collection of necessary data in this connection. <br />1HEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Lakewood,6hate <br />of Ohio:- <br />Section 1: That under Section 6 Article 2 of the City Charter, as amend- <br />ed, the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized and required to secure and <br />report to this Council all available information needed and to assist in <br />the collecting of such information, the Mayor be and he is hereby author- <br />ized to enter into contract with the firm of Morris Knowles, Inc. of <br />Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania which contract shall specify the nature and ex- <br />tent of service to be rendered and rate of compensation. Said compensa- <br />tion not to exceed a total of $2,000.00 without the consent of this <br />Council and Lakewood's proportion of said expense not to exceed 70.9 % <br />of aforementioned total. Said compensation to be payable on vouchers <br />approved by the Mayor. <br />Section 2: That the Director of Finance be and he is hereby authorized <br />to pay from the Water Fund to the said Morris Knowles Inc. upon vouchers <br />duly:.approved by the Mayor for services as hereinbefore setforth. Said <br />payment not to exceed $?,OOO.OO. <br />Section 3: 1~t this ordinance shall be in full force and effect at the <br />earliest period allowed by maw, a,s an emergency exists for the immediate <br />preservation of public health and property and for the usual daily opera- <br />tion of the Department of Public Works this ordinance is hereby declared <br />to be an emergency measure, effective forthwith. <br />Adopted: <br /> !2.v. 1, 1920 - <br /> .Jh A.
