GENCY ORDINANCE providing for the regulation of traffic and <br />the use of streets and sidewalks, by amending original Section 56-17 of Ordinance <br />No. 4060 as amended and renumberad Section 56-14 by Ordinance No. 4471 and as re- <br />numbered Section 56-12 by Ordinance No. 4474. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an emergency exists in that traffic hazards and conditions <br />require constant appraisal and ~lexible regulations to meet current needs and in <br />order to provide for the immediate prese~vation of the public property, health and <br />safety and to provide for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE 1T OItDAINED BT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That original Section 56-17 of Ordinance No. 4060 as <br />amended and renumbered Section 56-14 by Ordinance No. 4471 and as renu~bered Section <br />56-12 by Ordinance No. 4474, and reading: <br /> <br />"Section 56-12. In addition and subject to the specific <br />provisions of this or~1~ce relative thereto, the Director <br />of Public Safety is hereby authorized to promulgate regulations <br />(1) designating street areas wherein there shall be no parking <br />at any time, provided, however, that no such street areas <br />shall be so designated by the Director of Public Safety (a) for <br />distances longer than 40 feet each, nor (b) closer to each other <br />than 150 feet, except that on any street of which the paved <br />portion is 40 feet er less in width, the Director of Public <br />Safety may limit parking to one side or part of one side of <br />the street only when in his Judgment the public safety requires <br />such limitation, and (2) designating streets or parts of streets <br />wherein parking shall be limited to one hour within specified <br />periods of time. No such regulation shall permit parking in <br />any of the places specifically prohibited by this ordinance or <br />by law, nor shall any such regulation limiting the time of <br />parking or forbidding parking be deemed to apply on Sundays, <br />holidays, other than Saturday afternoon, or between the hours <br />of 6:00 P.M. and 7:00 A. N. ~unless the regulations and the sign <br />evidencLug the same specifically so state. Such regulations <br />shall become effective upon delivery of a copy to the Chief of <br />Police of the City of Lakeweod and upon erection of signs <br />sufficient in number to apprise the ordinarily observant person <br />of the existence of the regulation and shall continue to have <br />the force and effect of ordinances until rescinded by the <br />Director of Pablic Safety or disapproved by ordinance of Council. <br />Violation of any such regulation shall be subject to the <br />provisions and penalties provided and prescribed in Section 100 <br />and Section 101 of this ordinance and to the w~iver prescribed <br />in Section 102., <br /> <br />be amended to read...' <br /> <br />"Section 56-12. In addition and subJe, ctte the specific provisions <br />of this ordinance relative thereto, the Director cf Public Safety <br />is hereby authorized to promulgate regulations designating street <br />areas wherein (1) parking shall be limited to specified periods of <br />time or (2) there sh~l be no parkinE at any time, when in his <br />judgment the public safety requires such limitation. No such <br />regulation shall permit parP~ng in any of the .places specifically <br />prohibited by this ordinance or by law, nor shall any such <br />regulation limiting the time of parking or Norbidding parking be <br />deemed to apply on Sundays, holidays other than Saturday afternoon, <br /> <br /> <br />
