ORDINANCE NO. 5-58 BY: Messrs. <br /> <br />Chockley, Fairgrieve, <br />Gaydos, Gottermeyer, <br />Lawther, Ward. <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE authorizing membership of the City of Lakewood <br />in the Ohio Municipal League, authorizing and directing the Director <br />of Finance to pay the cost of such membership. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Ohio Municipal League was formed "to secure <br />and to maintain, through united effort the benefits of enlightened <br />and progressive government to the inhabitants of the municipalities <br />of Ohio; to exchange ideas and experiences, techniques and pro- <br />cedure; to bring about better understanding of the common problems <br />of municipalities, both by local government and by state government; <br />to obtain a proper and fair determination of the obligations of the <br />sovereign State of Ohio to the citizens of its municipalities and <br />to aid in the formation of a planned and stable program of finan- <br />cial aid to municipalities in harmony with the greatest measure of <br />home rule."; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The cost of membership has been determined by the <br />league according to population of the respective member cities on <br />a basis considered by this council to be reasonable; now therefore <br />be it <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That membership of the City of Lakewood in the <br />Ohio Municipal League is hereby determined to be in the public <br />interest and especially the interests of the citizens of Lakewood; <br />and such membership is hereby authorized. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Director of Finance is hereby auth- <br />orized and directed to pay the sum of seven hundred twenty nine <br />dollars for the year 1958 as costs of membership of the City of <br />Lakewood in the Ohio Municipal League; that such payment be charged <br />to Appropriation No. 3265 - General Fund - Contingencies. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance shall take effect and be <br />in force from and after its adoption at the earliest period al- <br />lowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: February 17, 19)8 <br /> <br />Thpm~s C.
