Gaydos, Gottermeyer, <br /> Lawther, Ward, <br /> Fahrenbach, Fairgrieve. <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to provide for the installation <br />and maintenance of a fire alarm box in certain business buildings <br />and for such purpose to enact Sections 937~O~ and 937.06, Chapter <br />37 of the General Offenses Code of the Codified Ordinances of <br />the City of Lakewood, and to provide a penalty. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, This ordinance provides for the protection of <br />the sick, the handicapped and children, and <br /> <br /> .WHER~A~, The objective and purposes of this ordinance <br />should e .... <br /> o pu~ into effect at the earliest possible t~me for the <br />reason that this ordinance provides for the immediate preserva- <br />tion of the public peace, property, health and safety, now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Secti, on 1. That Sections 937.05 and 937.06 of the General <br />Offenses Code~ of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood <br />be enacted to~ read as follows: <br /> <br />937.05 Fire alarm boxes required. <br /> <br /> Every asylum, almshouse, orphanage, nursinghome, rest <br />home, old age home, convalescent home, hospital or school, here- <br />inafter referred to as "institution,,, having provision for the <br />housing or attendance therein of at least twenty-five persons, <br />shall be equipped with one or more fire alarm boxes, hereinafter <br />referred to as "alarm", of the type and character suitable for <br />~onn~ct~gn wit~ the fire alarm system of the City of Lakewood, <br /> eremnar~er rezerred to as "system", such box shall be located <br />within such institution, or on the premises on which such in- <br />stitution is situated. <br /> <br /> The Chief of the Fire Department, or someone designated <br />by him shall inspect such alarm and if upon examination thereof <br />he finds it in working condition, he shall approve it. <br /> <br /> Every~ institution, at its own expense, shall connect its <br />alarm to the city system and maintain such alarm and connection <br />in good working order. <br /> <br />them to <br /> <br />The institution shall install such alarms and connect <br />such system on or before October l, 1959. <br /> <br />937.06 Penalty. <br /> <br /> Whoever shall fail to install the fire alarm box or con- <br />nect it to the fire alarm system of the City of Lakewood and <br />maintain the ~aid box and connectio~ in goodworking order, <br />shall be fined a sum not to exceed $100.00, and the cost of pros- <br />ecutionS each day during which such fire alarm box or connection <br />to the fire alarm system o:f the City of Lakewoodispermttted to <br />remain out of good working order, after notice of such condition <br />is given by the Lakewood Fire Department, shall constitute a sep- <br />arate offense.
