ORDINANCE NO. 65-67 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. Gaydos, Huffman, Kelley, <br /> Usher, Ward, and Cain. <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing settlement of the claim <br />of Marie VanderSlice, in the total amount of Three Thousand <br />Dollars ($3,000.00), arising out of an accident when she fell <br />on the public sidewalk on Edwards Avenue in the City of Lakewood, <br />Ohio, on December 20, 1962. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, This ordinance constitutes an emergency in that <br />it may save the City from further expense and a possible sub- <br />stantial jury verdict rendered against the City and in that it <br />provides for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That settlement of the claim of Marie Vander <br />Slice, in the amount of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) is <br />hereby ordered and authorized, conditioned upon the execution <br />and delivery by Marie Vander Slice of a full release in favor <br />of the City of Lakewood, duly approved by the Director of Law. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Director of Finance be and he is <br />hereby authorized to pay the sum of Three Thousand Dollars <br />($3,000.00) to Marie Vander Slice upon delivery to the Director <br />of Finance of the foregoing release duly executed and approved; <br />and to charge the same to the General Fund - Damages paid by City. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be <br />an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble <br />hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two- <br />thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect <br />and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />Adopted: November 6~ 1967 <br /> <br />Approved: November 6, <br /> <br />President <br />Clerk <br /> <br />1967 <br /> <br /> Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
