ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />5-70 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. Wendling, Gaydos, Graber <br />Huffman, Kelley, Usher, Ward <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 135.09 of the Administrative Code of <br />the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to payment on account <br />of uniforms for members of the Division of Police. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, This ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the <br />immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the usual <br />daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That Section 135.09 of the Administrative Code of the Codified <br />Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, now reading as follows: <br /> <br />Section 135.09 <br /> <br />UniformAllowance <br /> <br />In addition to the furnishing of the personal equipment mentioned in <br />Section 133.052, The Director of Finance is authorized and directed <br />to pay from the General Fund Appropriation Nos. 4138 - Clothing, and <br />4438 - Clothing, the sum of $75.00 semi-annually to every active member <br />of the Division of Fire and Police as a uniform allowance. .Such sum <br />of $75.00 shall be payable on September 30, 1967 to every member of <br />the Division of Fire and Police on active.duty as of such date, and <br />a like sum shall be paid to each active member of the Division of <br />Fire and Police at the end of each succeeding semi-annual period <br />thereafter. To each new and active member of the Division of Fire <br />and Police after adoption of this ordinance the Director of Finance <br />is authorized and directed to pay upon the written request'of said <br />new member, a sum not to exceed $225.00 as an advance upon the annual <br />uniform allowance of such member. Any funds so advanced shall be <br />deducted from the next regularly occuring uniform allowance which <br />such member is entitled to receive, until the entire amount of the <br />advance has been paid. Should any member leave said Division before <br />the amount of uniform allowance so advanced is due him, then he shall <br />immediately return such unearned allowance to the Department of Finance. <br /> <br />A suitable uniform shall be furnished to each Police Cadet by the <br />Division of Police in lieu of a uniform allowance. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 135.09 <br /> <br />UniformAllowance <br /> <br /> In addition to the furnishing of the personal equipment mentioned in <br /> Section 135.08 (b), the Director of Finance is authorized and directed <br /> to pay from the General Fund, Account No. 0192031 - Clothing, the sum <br />..of one hundred dollars ($100.00) semi-annually to every active member <br /> of the Division of Police as a uniform allowance. Such sum of one- <br /> hundred dollars ($100.00) shall be payable on March 31, 1970, to every <br /> member of the Division of Police on active duty as of such date, and a <br /> like sum shall be paid to each active member of the Division of Police <br /> at the end of each succeeding semi-annual period thereafter. To each <br /> mew active member or'the Division of Police, the Director of Finance is <br /> authorized and directed to pay upon the written request of such new <br /> member, a sum not to exceed two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225.00) <br /> as an advance upon the annual uniform allowance of such member. Any <br /> funds so advanced shall be deducted from the next regularly occurring <br /> uniform allowance which such member is entitled to receive, until the <br /> entire amount of the advance has been paid.
