Graber, Iluffman, Usaer, <br />Ward, Wendling. <br /> <br />AN EFIERCENCY ORDINANCE approving the compensation of interns and resident'.. <br />of Lakcwood llospital and ,~nending Ordinance No. 73-69 adopted November 3, <br />1969. <br /> <br />~IEREAS, the Charter of the City of Lakewood provides that the Board of <br />Trustees of Lakcwood ttospital shall employ such employees.as the Board <br />deems necessary and fix their compensation, subject to the approval of <br />Council, and, <br /> <br />~REAS, the Board of Truste6s of Lakewood Hospital has created certain <br />positions and fixed salaries.'of employees of Lakewood Hospital, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, an emergency exists for the immediate preservation of the public <br />peace, property, health or safety and to provide for the usual daily <br />operation of a municipal department;'now, therefore, <br /> <br />'BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the compensation fixed for interns and residents of <br />Lakewood Hospital as recommended by the Board of Trustees is hereby <br />approved by this Council and shall be fixed by the Board of Trustees <br />within the following schedule: <br /> <br /> Salary <br /> <br />$ 7,500 <br />'8,100 <br />8,700 <br />9,300 <br />11,000 <br /> <br />Job Title <br /> <br />Intern <br /> <br />1st year resident <br /> <br />~nd year resident <br /> <br />3rd year resident <br /> <br />Chief Resident <br /> <br />~e~tion 2. Compensation of said employees shall'be paid from the Hospital <br />~und on a bi-weekly basis as determined by the Finance Department of the City <br />of Lakewood. An hourly rate may be paid which, if multiplied by the number of <br />working hours in the week and by fifty-two (weeks), then divided by twelve <br />(months), amounts to a monthly rate which falls within the minimum and maximum <br />~ange of the proper job classification established in this ordinance. A daily <br />~ate may be established by multiplying by eight any hourly rate determined <br />above. The normal work week shall be forty hours. <br /> <br />Section 3. That ali. interns and residents shall be furnished housing, Blue <br />Cross coverage, meals and laundry, without charge; and that medical technology <br />students shall be furnished single semi-private Blue Cross and Blue Shield <br />coverage without charge. <br /> <br />Section 4. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by <br />the Mayor; and Ordinance No. 73-69, adopted November 3, 1969, is hereby amended, <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />President <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
