OI~DINANCE NO, 28-70 BY: AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE fixing the compensation of the Judge of the Lakewood Municipal Court and repealing Ordinance No. 78-69, adopted December 15, 1969 ~ WIIEREAS, in a recent written opinion, the Attorney G.'cneral of the State. of Ohio has determined that the legislative authority of a municipality may increase the salary of municipal judges up to $23,000 per annum as provided for in Section 1901.11 of the Ohio Revised Code, and, WHEREAS, the present.compensation of the Judge of the Lakewood Municipal Court is less than the amount authorized by Section 1901.11 of the Ohio Revised Code, and, WHEREAS, The City of Lakewood is required by Section 1901.11 of the Ohio Revised Code to pay three-fifths of the comp- ensation of the Judge of the Lakewood Municipal Court and the County of Cuyahoga .is required to pay the remaining two-fifths of the salary of said Judge; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COLrNCIL OF THE CITY oF LAK~',7OOD, STATE OF ·OHIO, Section 1. That the compensation of the Judge of the I~kewood Municipal Court is hereby fixed at $23,000.00 per annum. Section 2. That the Director of Finance of the City of Lakewood is hereby authorized and directed to pay three-fifths of the compensation of the judge as required by law from the City treasury, in semi-monthly installments.or in equal installments every two weeks° . Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble her.eof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds Of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; and Ordin- ance No. 78-69 is hereby amended.
