<br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the
<br />Mayor to enter into a Modification of Agreement to permit the
<br />charging of a nominal admission fee for casual visitors to the
<br />Stone House located in Lakewood Park and operated as a public
<br />museum, amending the agreement entered into March 12, 1963 be-
<br />tween the City of Lakewood, Ohio and the Lakewood Historical
<br />Society.

<br /> WHEREAS, on the 12th day of March, 1963, the City of
<br />Lakewood entered into an agreement with the Lakewood Historical
<br />Society for the use, maintenance, management, and operation of a
<br />building located in Lakewood Park as a public museum, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, by the terms of the original agreement, said
<br />building is to be kept open without charge to the general public
<br />and, " '
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood Historical Society has requested
<br />the charging of a nominal admission fee for visitors other than
<br />prearranged tours of children and interested adult groups, in order
<br />to maintain the in%erior of the museum in a satisfactory manner
<br />without raising membership dues, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, a large portion of the membership of the Lake-
<br />wood Historical Society'is made up of older, retired Persons on
<br />limited fixed incomes, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the anticipated income to be derived from such
<br />admission fee will also make it possible for the Lakewood Historical
<br />Society to expand such cultural activities as its summer school
<br />for Lakewood children, and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance cons'~itutes an emergency measure
<br />providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department;
<br />now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD.
<br />STATE OF OHIO:

<br /> Section 1. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized
<br />and directed to enter into a Modification of Agreement with the
<br />Lakewood Historical Society to permit the charging of a nominal
<br />admission fee for casual visitors to the Stone House located in
<br />Lakewood Park and operated as a public museum, amending the agree-
<br />ment entered into March 12, 1963 between the City of Lakewood,
<br />Ohio and the Lakewood Historical Society, such Modification of
<br />Agreement to read substantially as follows:

<br />MODIFICATION OF AGREEMENT
<br />
<br />By virtue of Ordinance No. 50-70, adopted Ausust 13 ,
<br />1970, the Agreement entered into the 12th day of March,
<br />1963, by and between the City of Lakewood, a municipal
<br />corporation, by its Mayor duly authorized by Ordinance
<br />No. 5-63, adopted March 4, 1963, and Lakewood Historical
<br />Society (therein called "Society"), is hereby amended
<br />so that Paragraph 10 of such Agreement shall read and
<br />provide as follows:
<br />
<br />"L0. The Society shall keep the building open to the
<br />general public for approximately two days each week during
<br />
