<br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the
<br />Mayor, ex-officio Director of Public Safety, to enter into a
<br />mutual assistance contract with the Cities of Bay Village, Ohio,
<br />Rocky River, Ohio, Fairview Park, Ohio, North Olmsted, Ohio and
<br />Westlake, Ohio for the purpose of providing for the interchange
<br />of the police personnel, police equipment and the police services
<br />of the.Police Departments of said communities.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, in order to obtain additional police assistance
<br /> and protection and for the purpose of protection of life, limb,
<br /> and property and the reduction of crime and subversive activities
<br /> in the City of Lakewood and its neighboring communities, this
<br /> Council deems it to,be in the best interest of the City that the
<br /> City of Lakewood provide for and join in a mutual assistance
<br /> agreement with the Cities of Bay Village, Ohio, Rocky River, Ohio,
<br /> Fairview Park, Ohio, North Olmsted, Ohio, and Westlake, Ohio, in
<br /> the interchange and use of their respective police personnel,
<br /> police equipment and police services, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, Section 737.04 of the Ohio Revised Code author-
<br /> izes the legislative authority of.a municipal corporation to enter
<br /> into a..contract with other municipal corporations, such contract
<br /> to be mn effect for a period not to exceed three (3) years, and
<br /> upon such terms as are agreed upon for services of Police Depart-
<br /> ments or the use of police equipment or for the interchange of
<br /> such service or equipment within the several territories of the
<br /> contracting, subdiviSions, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, suCh contract must'first be authorized by
<br />.the .respective legislative authorities, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, so far as it applies to the Operation of
<br /> Police Departments of the respective municipal corporations,
<br /> Section 701.02 of the Ohio Revised'Code applies to the contract-
<br /> ing political subdivisions and to the Police Department members
<br /> when they are rendering service outside of their own subdivisions,
<br /> pursuant to such contracts, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, This ordinance constitutes an emergency measure
<br /> -'for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and
<br /> safety and for the usual daily operation of a municipal depart-
<br /> ment, · now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL.OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD,
<br />'./STATE OF OHIO:

<br /> Section 1. That the Mayor oil the City of Lakewood,
<br />exrofficio Director of Public Safety, be and he is hereby
<br />authorized and directed to enter into a contract for the inter-
<br />change of the police personnel, police equipment and the police
<br />services of the Police Departments of the Cities of Bay Village,
<br />Ohio, Rocky River, Ohio, Fairview Park, Ohio, North Olmsted, Ohio
