<br /> AN Eb~RGENCY ORDINANCE to enact new Section 1709.211 of tile Sanitary
<br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood to require that the absentee
<br />owner of a m'.:ltiple dwelling designate a janitor, custodian or agent who shal. 1 reside
<br />in such multipIe dwelling and maintain the same.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, enforcement and compliance of the Sanitary Code of the City of
<br />Lakewood is essential to the public health, safety and welfare, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the designation by the absentee owner of a multiple dwelling of a
<br />janitor, custodian 6'~'~'agent who shall reside in such multiple dwelling will facil-
<br />itate such enforcement of and compliance with the provisions of the Sanitary Code
<br />of the City of Lakewood, and .. "

<br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the
<br />immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the usual
<br />daily operation of a municipal dePartment, now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That the Sanitary Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City
<br />of Lakewood be and the same is hereby supplemented by enacting a new Section
<br />1709.211 in Chapter 1709, General Housing Code, to read as follows:

<br />1709.211 JANITOR, CUSTODIAN OR AGENT
<br />
<br />(a) In any multiple dwelling in which the owner thereof does not
<br /> reside, there shall be designated by the owner, a janitor,
<br /> custodian, agent or other responsible person who shall, except
<br /> as hereinafter provided in subsection (b), reside in such
<br /> multiple dwelling and have charge of the same, provided, how-
<br /> ever, that where there exists two or more such multiple dwellings
<br /> on one parcel of land or upon two or more contiguous parcels of
<br /> land, one janitor, custodian or agent residing in any one of
<br /> said multiple dwellings may serve as janitor, custodian or
<br /> agent for all of said multiple dwellings.

<br />(b)
<br />
<br />Such janitor, custodian, agent or other responsible person
<br />designated by the owner, pursuant to subsection (a) above,
<br />shall not be required to reside in such multiple dwelling
<br />when such multiple dwelling is o~aed or managed by a person,
<br />firm or corporation who resides in or has a business office
<br />located within the City of Lakewood.
<br />
<br /> (c) Said janitor, custodian, agent or other responsible person
<br /> shall be available, at reasonable hours, to thc official charged
<br /> with tile enforcement of this Sanitary Code and to tile tenants
<br /> of the dwelling unit. A schedule .showing the name, location
<br /> and hours the janitor, custodian, agent or other responsible
<br /> person is available and the name, address and telephone number
<br /> of the owner sl~all be posted at the main entrance of such
<br /> structure.
