Mcbride, Usher, <br /> wendling, Brockmsn, Graber, <br /> Kal ley, Ms gnot to <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to enact new Section 135.11 of the Administrative <br />-Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood providing for payment <br />of overtime services for members of the Division of Police other than the <br />Chief of. the Division of Police. <br /> W~EREAS, this Council recognizes that inherent in the duties of law enforcement <br /> emergency situations may exist whereby members of the Division of Police may be calla <br /> back to duty while off duty or required to remain on duty beyond their regular <br /> scheduled working hours, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines it to be appropriate that members of the <br /> Division of Police other than the Chief of the Division of Police should be <br /> .compensated with time off for such reqUired additional 'duty, and <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure .providing for the <br /> usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the A~ministrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the <br /> City of Lakewood be and the same is hereby supplemented by enacting new Section <br /> 135.11 to read as follows: <br /> <br />135.11 Overtime Compensation. <br /> <br />In the event it is necessary to call back to duty a member of the <br />Division of Police while he is off duty or it is necessary for a <br />member of the Division of Police to remain on duty beyond his <br />regular working hours, such member of the Division of Police, <br />other than the Chief of the Division of Police, shall be entitled <br />to compensation for such overtime services, as hereinafter provided., <br />in the form of compensatory time off. <br /> <br />For each instance of such overtime service of one (1) hour or more, <br />such m~,ber shall receive compensatory time off. In the event such <br />call back to duty is necessitated by special emergency or disaster <br />conditions, time off shall be computed ~t one and one-half times <br />the overtime actually worked, provided, however, that the allowance <br />of such additional compensation shall be subject to the approval <br />of the Director of Public Safety. <br /> <br />Section 2. This ordinance is hereby declared to be am emergency measure for <br />the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirma- <br />tive vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect <br />and be in force ~mmediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br />- Clerk <br /> <br />Hayor <br /> <br /> <br />
