ORDINANCE NO 60-72 ~: Messrs. Magnotto, · Usher, We~dling, B~ckm Graber, Kelley AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to provide for the'submission to the electorate of an amendment to the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood by amending Article II Section 5 thereof and repealing Article XXII thereof pertaining to the salary of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood. · MItEREAS, an emergency exists in that the charter amendment of Article II Section 5 and the repeal of Article XXII is to be presented to the electorate of the City of Lakewood at the general election to be held on November 7, 1972, and WHE~S, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, now, therefore, BE IT ORDINANED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO, ~tO-THIRDS OF ALL MEMMERS ELECTED THERETO ODNCURRING: Section 1. That th~ question of the amendment of Article II Section 5 and the repeal of ArticleXXII of rheA mended Charter of the City of Lakewood so that as amended the same shall be and read as follows: "ARTICLE II Tile EXECUTIVE SECTION 5 SALARY OF THE MAYOR The salary of the Mayor shall be established by ordinance Of Council, provided that such ordinance must be adopted not less than thirty (30) days prior to the final date fixed by law for the filing of nominating petitions by candidates for the Office of Mayor for the term beginning on the next succeeding first day of January and such salary shall not be increased or decreased during such term. Such ordinance shall not be adopted or passed unless it has been read at three (3) separate regular council meetings, the second and third of such meetings not to be less than two (2) weeks subsequent to each prior meeting. Article XXII SALARY AND EMOLIF~NTS FOR THEMAYOR shall be and the same is hereby repealed." be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City at the general election to be held on Tuesday, the 7th day of November, 1972 at the regular places of voting in the City between the hours of 6:30 A.M. and 6:30 P.M. Section 2. That the ballots for said election shall, at the top thereof, be entitled "City Charter Amendment Ballot" and the question to be submitted on said ballot shall be in words following: "Shall the proposed amendment of Article II Section 5. and the repeal of Article XXII of the Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood:'.
