Graber, Magnotto, McBride, <br /> Sinagra, Usher, Werner, Brockman <br /> <br /> A~N EMERGEN~ ORDINANCE to amend Section 505.04 of the General <br />Offemses Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to <br />the impounding of dogs and charges to be paid in connection therewith. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, costs and charges incurred by the City of Lakewood for the <br />i~npounding of animals have recently been increased, and pursuant to law owners <br />are required to pay said impoundment costs and charges upon reclaiming their <br />pets, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the aforementioned increase in costs and charges should be <br />assessed against the owners at the earliest possible time, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the usual operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section i. That existing Section 505.04 of the General Offenses <br />Code presently reading as follows: <br /> <br /> 505.04 Impounding of'Dogs; N~tice and Redemption. <br /> <br /> The Chief 9f Police, not later than two days following the' <br /> impounding of any dog, shall notify the owner, or if the owner <br /> of the dog is umknown, shall post written notice at the Lakewood <br /> Police Stationdescribing the dog and the place and time of taking <br /> up ~uch dog. The owner of any dog, within five days from the time <br /> .of taking the dog so impounded, may reclaim such dog upon payment <br /> of all costs and charges incurred by the City for the impounding, <br /> ~notice and keeping of the dog. The following charges shall be paid: <br /> for impounding any dog, two dollars ($2.00); for giving notice, two <br /> dollars ($2.00); for keeping amy dog, two dollars ($2.00) per day. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />505.04 Impounding of Dogs; Notice and Redemption. <br /> <br />The Chief of Police, not later than two daYs following the <br />impounding of any dog, shall notify the owner, or if the owner <br />of the dog is unknown, shall post written notice at the Lakewood <br />· Police Station describing the dog and the place and time of taking <br />up such dog. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />-measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives <br />· the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Coumcil it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br />Mayor, and existing Section 505.04 adopted Octoberf 6, 1958 shall be, and the <br />same is hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> <br />
