Graber, Magnotto, McBride, Sinagra, Usher, Werner, Brockman A~N EMERGEN~ ORDINANCE to amend Section 505.04 of the General Offemses Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to the impounding of dogs and charges to be paid in connection therewith. WHEREAS, costs and charges incurred by the City of Lakewood for the i~npounding of animals have recently been increased, and pursuant to law owners are required to pay said impoundment costs and charges upon reclaiming their pets, and WHEREAS, the aforementioned increase in costs and charges should be assessed against the owners at the earliest possible time, and WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the usual operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO Section i. That existing Section 505.04 of the General Offenses Code presently reading as follows: 505.04 Impounding of'Dogs; N~tice and Redemption. The Chief 9f Police, not later than two days following the' impounding of any dog, shall notify the owner, or if the owner of the dog is umknown, shall post written notice at the Lakewood Police Stationdescribing the dog and the place and time of taking up ~uch dog. The owner of any dog, within five days from the time .of taking the dog so impounded, may reclaim such dog upon payment of all costs and charges incurred by the City for the impounding, ~notice and keeping of the dog. The following charges shall be paid: for impounding any dog, two dollars ($2.00); for giving notice, two dollars ($2.00); for keeping amy dog, two dollars ($2.00) per day. be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 505.04 Impounding of Dogs; Notice and Redemption. The Chief of Police, not later than two daYs following the impounding of any dog, shall notify the owner, or if the owner of the dog is unknown, shall post written notice at the Lakewood · Police Station describing the dog and the place and time of taking up such dog. The owner of any dog, within five days from the time of taking the dog so impounded, may reclaim such dog upon payment of all · costs and charges incurred by the City for the impounding, notice and %keeping of the dog. The following charges shall be paid: for impoun- ding any dog, three dollars ($3.00); for giving notice, three dollars ($3.00); for keeping any dog, three dollars ($3.00) per day. Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency -measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives · the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Coumcil it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor, and existing Section 505.04 adopted Octoberf 6, 1958 shall be, and the same is hereby repealed.
