Sinagra, Brockman, Chinnock, <br /> Magnotto, McBride, Salmon <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE creating the position of Legislative Assistant <br />to the Council of the City of Lakewood and providing compensa.tion therefor. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Lakewood determines that it is in <br />need of Legislative Assistants to assist members of Council in the~investigation <br />and research of legislative matters and to perform numerous other duties for <br />members of Council, all of which will tend to increase the efficiency and effec- <br />tiveness of Council, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Lakewood determines that it is in <br />the best interests of the City to establish the position of Legislative Assistant <br />to Council, not to exceed two (2) in number, who will be under th~ supervision of <br />the Council of the City of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the immediate preservation of the public 'health, safety and welfare and for the <br />usual daily operation of a municipal department, and for the further reason that <br />the aforementioned assistance to the members of the Council of the City of Lakewood <br />should be provided at the earliest possible time; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That there is hereby created the position of Legislative <br />Assistant to the Council of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That such L~gislative Assistants shall not exceed two (2) <br />in number and shall be under the supervision of the Council of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 3. Compensation for each of such Legislative Assistants shall <br />not exceed Three Dollars and Fifty Cents ($3.50)~ per hour, and each such Legislative <br />Assistant shall qualify under the college work-study program established by the <br />Federal Government. <br /> <br /> Section 4. The City's portion of the funds required for the salary for <br />each such Legislative Assistant shall be paid from the General Operating Fund <br />(Council); provided, however, not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) of <br />City funds shall be expended for eacb student~ per academic year. <br /> <br /> Section'5.
