ORDINANCE NO. 6-78 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. McBride, Salmon, <br /> Brockman, Brown, McBride <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 135.09 of the Administrative <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to payment on <br />account of uniforms for members of the Division of Police.~ <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing fOr <br />the~immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the usual <br />daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section I. That Section 135.09 of the Administrative Code of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />Section 135.09 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE <br /> <br /> In addition to the furnishing of the personal equipment mentioned <br />in Section 135.08(b), the Director of Finance is authorized and <br />directed to pay from the General Fund, Account No. 0192031 - Uniform <br />the sum of One Hundred Sixty-two and 50/100 Dollars ($162.50) semi- <br />annually to every active member of the DivisiOn of Police as a <br />uniform allowance. Such sum of One Hundred Sixty-two and 50/100 <br />Dollars ($162.50) shall be payable semi-annually on March 31 and <br />September 30 of each year, or at the next succeeding payroll date.. <br />To each new active member of the Division of Police, the Director <br />of Finance is authorized and directed to pay upon the written request <br />of such new member, a sum not to exceed Two Hundred Twenty-five Dollars <br />($225.00) as an advance upon the annual uniform allowance of such <br />member. Any funds so advanced shall be deducted from the next regular <br />occurring uniform allowance such member is entitled to receive, <br />until the entire amount of the advance has been paid. Should <br />any member leave the Division before the amount of uniform allow- <br />ance so advanced is due him, then he shall immediately return such <br />unearned allowance to the Department of Finance. A new member of <br />the Division who commences his employment on a date which falls <br />between determination dates as set forth herein shall receive a <br />portion of uniform allowance prorated daily from date of employ- <br />ment. A member of the Division terminating his employment on a <br />date which falls between determination dates as set forth herein <br />shall receive that portion of uniform allowance to which he is <br />entitled prorated to the date of his termination. <br /> <br />A suitable uniform shall be furnished to each Police Cadet by the <br />Division of Police in lieu of a uniform allowance. <br /> <br />When an employee is, newly assigned to a non-uniformed investigative <br />position in excess of thirty-one (31) days, that employee shall <br />receive a supplementary allowance of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) <br />one (1) time. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 135.09 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE <br /> <br />In addition to the furnishing of the personal equipment mentioned <br />in Section 135.08(b), ~effective January 1, 1978, the Director of <br />Finance is authorized and directed to pay from the General Fund, <br />Account No. 0192031 - Uniform, the sum of Two Hundred <br />Dollars ($200.00) semi-annually and effective January 1, 1979, the <br />Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay from said <br />Fund the sum of Two Hundred Twenty-five .Dollars ($225.00) <br />semi-annually, to every active member of the Division of Police as a <br />uniform allowance. Such sums as set forth herein, shall be payable <br />semi-annually on March 31 and September 30 of each year, or at the <br />next succeeding payroll date.
