ORDINANCE NO. 6-78 BY: Messrs. McBride, Salmon, Brockman, Brown, McBride AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 135.09 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to payment on account of uniforms for members of the Division of Police.~ WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing fOr the~immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section I. That Section 135.09 of the Administrative Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: Section 135.09 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE In addition to the furnishing of the personal equipment mentioned in Section 135.08(b), the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay from the General Fund, Account No. 0192031 - Uniform the sum of One Hundred Sixty-two and 50/100 Dollars ($162.50) semi- annually to every active member of the DivisiOn of Police as a uniform allowance. Such sum of One Hundred Sixty-two and 50/100 Dollars ($162.50) shall be payable semi-annually on March 31 and September 30 of each year, or at the next succeeding payroll date.. To each new active member of the Division of Police, the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay upon the written request of such new member, a sum not to exceed Two Hundred Twenty-five Dollars ($225.00) as an advance upon the annual uniform allowance of such member. Any funds so advanced shall be deducted from the next regular occurring uniform allowance such member is entitled to receive, until the entire amount of the advance has been paid. Should any member leave the Division before the amount of uniform allow- ance so advanced is due him, then he shall immediately return such unearned allowance to the Department of Finance. A new member of the Division who commences his employment on a date which falls between determination dates as set forth herein shall receive a portion of uniform allowance prorated daily from date of employ- ment. A member of the Division terminating his employment on a date which falls between determination dates as set forth herein shall receive that portion of uniform allowance to which he is entitled prorated to the date of his termination. A suitable uniform shall be furnished to each Police Cadet by the Division of Police in lieu of a uniform allowance. When an employee is, newly assigned to a non-uniformed investigative position in excess of thirty-one (31) days, that employee shall receive a supplementary allowance of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150.00) one (1) time. be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 135.09 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE In addition to the furnishing of the personal equipment mentioned in Section 135.08(b), ~effective January 1, 1978, the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay from the General Fund, Account No. 0192031 - Uniform, the sum of Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) semi-annually and effective January 1, 1979, the Director of Finance is authorized and directed to pay from said Fund the sum of Two Hundred Twenty-five .Dollars ($225.00) semi-annually, to every active member of the Division of Police as a uniform allowance.
