ORDINANCE NO. 32-78 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. Usher, Brockman, Brown, <br />Chinnock, Magnotto, McBride, Salmon <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 137.O7 of the Administrative Code <br />of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to payment on <br />account of uniforms for members of the Division of Fire. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the <br />immediate":preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the usual <br />daily operation of a municipal department, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That SeCtion 137.O7 of the Administrative Code of the Codified <br />Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />Section 137.07 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE <br /> <br />In addition to the furnishing of the personal equipment mentioned in <br />Section 137.O6 (b)', the Director of Finance is authorized and directed <br />to pay from the General Fund, Account No. 0192331 - Clothing, the sum <br />of one hundred dollars ($1OO.OO) semi-annually to every active member <br />of the Division of Fire as a uniform allowance. Such sum of one hundred <br />dollars ($100.00) shall be payable on March 31, 1970 to every member of <br />the Division of Fire on active duty as of such date, and a like sum shall <br />be paid to each active member of the Division of Fire at the end of each <br />succeeding semi-annual period thereafter. To each new active member of <br />the Division of Fire, the Director of Finance is authorized and directed <br />to pay upon the written request of such new member, a sum not to exceed <br />two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225.00) as an advance upon the annual <br />uniform allowance of such member. Any funds so advanced shall be deducted <br />from the next regularly occurring uniform allowance which such member is <br />entitled to receive, until the entire amount of the advance has been paid. <br />Should'any member leave the Division before the amount of uniform allowance <br />so advanced is due him, then he shall immediately return such unearned <br />allowance to the Department of Finance. A new member of the Division who <br />commences his employment on a date which falls between determination dates <br />as set forth herein shall receive a portion of uniform allowance pro rated <br />daily from date of employment. A member of the Division terminating his <br />employment on a date which falls between determination dates as set forth <br />herein shall receive that portion of uniform allowance to which he is <br />entitled prorated daily to the date of his termination. <br /> <br />be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 137.O7 UNIFORM ALLOWANCE <br /> <br />In addition to the furnishing of'the personal equipment mentioned in <br />Section 137.O6 (b), effective February 1, 1978, the Director of Finance <br />is authorized and directed to pay from the General Fund, Account No. <br />0192331 - Uniform, the sum of One Hundred Fifty Dollars ($150-OO) semi- <br />annually and effective JanUary 1, 1979, the Director of Finance is auth- <br />orized and directed to pay from said fund the sum'of One Hundred Seventy- <br />Five Dollars ($175.OO) semi-annually, to every active member of the <br />Division of Fire as a uniform allowance; Such sums as set forth herein, <br />shall be payable semi-annually on March 31 and September 30 of each yar. <br />To each new active member of the Division of Fire, a lump sum uniform <br />allowance of Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) (Three~ Hundred Fifty Dollars <br />($350.00) after January 1, 1979) upon successfully completing his <br />departmental probationary period and his basic schooling, but this lump <br />sum payment shall be considered an advance of his first two (2) uniform <br />allowance payments. <br /> <br /> <br />
