ORDINANCE NO. 5-81 BY: Wendling, Chinnock, Salmon, <br /> Brown, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the City Engineer to advertise <br />for bids and enter into a contract or contracts with the lowest and best <br />bidders for the alteration of the Police Department situated in Lakewood <br />City Hal 1. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has determined that alteratiomto the <br />Police Deparment in Lakewood City Hall are necessary to improve building <br />security, space utilization and efficiency of Police Department operations <br />as well as to accomodate additional female staff members, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the detailed construction drawings and specifications <br />for the necessary alterations have been prepared by the firm of Dalton, <br />Dalton and Newport, which plans and specifications are acceptable to the <br />City and should be implemented, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the aforementioned construction drawings and specifications <br />are now on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Lakewood, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public safety and welfare and for the <br />usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the City Engineer be and he is hereby authorized <br />and directed to advertise for bids and enter into a contract or contracts with <br />the lowest and best bidder after advertisement according to law for the <br />alteration of the Police Department situated in Lakewood City Hall in accordance <br />with construction drawings and specifications now on file in the office of <br />the City Engineer. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the cost of such alteration is estimated to be <br />approximately $163,000.00, which funds are to be made available from the <br />Police Department Renovation Fund, which Fund is hereby established and <br />will be funded by a general obligation note to be issued by the City. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br />Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest <br />peri od allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: 2-17-81 //~~~~ <br /> ~/ /'/ President <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />/ F / ~--~ayor ' <br /> <br /> <br />
