ORDINANCE N0.I07-81 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approving the compensation of employees of <br />Lakewood Hospital, establishing Other benefits for certain employees and <br />students as fixed by the Board of Trustees, and repealing Ordinance No. <br />87-80 adopted January 19, 1981 and all other ordinances or parts of ordi- <br />nances inconsistent herewith. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood Hospital recognizes its employees as a valuable <br />asset to the institution and further recognizes their role in providing quality <br />health care to the users of the Hospital facility, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Lakewood Hospital endeavors to offer its employees fair <br />and competitive compensation for their services, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Hospital Administration has conducted a review of the <br />present salary structure by comparing the compensation offered to Hospital <br />employees with that offered by other area hospitals, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Personnel and Finance Committees of the Board of <br />Trustees of Lakewood Hospital have met on September 29, 1981, October 6, <br />1981 and October 22, 1981 to review the Hospital's present salary structure <br />as well as the recruitment and retention programs for nursing personnel, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a full presentation was made to the Personnel and Finance <br />Committees which documented the nursing shortage on a local, state and <br />national level, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Personnel and Finance Committees of the Board of <br />Trustees reviewed several alternative proposals to address the nursing <br />shortage issue as well as financial concerns relating to the same, and <br />recommended a salary structure to the Board of Trustees for their approval, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the amended Charter of the City of Lakewood, pursuant to <br />Article XX, Section 3 provides that the Board of Trustees shall employ such <br />employees as said Board deems necessary, and fix their compensation, subject <br />to the approval of Council, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of TrJstees of Lakewood Hospital pursuant to <br />Resolution 599 has created certain positions and fixed salaries of the <br />employees of Lakewood Hospital, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an emergency exists for the immediate preservation of the <br />public peace, property, health or safety and to provide for the usual daily <br />operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the compensation fixed for employees of the Lakewood <br />Hospital as recommended by the Board of Trustees of the Lakewood Hospital on <br />October 27, 1981 be the same and is hereby approved by this Council and shall <br />be fixed by the Board of Trustees within the following schedule effective <br />December 27, 1981. <br /> <br /> <br />
