ORDINANCE NO. 18-81 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gatlagher~ <br /> Graham, McBride, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the City Engineer to advertise for <br />bids and enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder for Alterations <br />to Lakewood City Hall to facilitate access by handicapped persons. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ this Council has determined that alterations to Lakewood City <br />Hall are necessary to improve access to and utilization of the building by <br />handicapped persons, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the detailed construction drawings and specifications for <br />the necessary alterations have been prepared by the firm of Dalton, Dalton, & <br />Newport, which plans and specifications are acceptable to the City and should <br />be implemented, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the aforementioned construction drawings and specifications <br />are now on file at the office of the City Engineer of the City of Lakewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the Public safety and welfare and for the <br />usual daily operation of a Municipal Department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section I. That the City Engineer be and he is hereby authorized and <br />directed to advertise for bids and enter into a contract with the lowest bidder <br />after advertisement according to law for the alteration of Lakewood City Hall <br />for the purpose of improving access to and utilization of the buildings by handi- <br />capped persons, and in accordance with construction drawings and specifications <br />now on file in the office of the City Engineer. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the cost of such alteration is estimated to be ap- <br />proximately $49,100, which funds are to be made available from 1980 Community <br />Deuelopment Block Grant Funds. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it~shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br />Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period <br /> <br />allowed by law. <br />Adopted: ~/6 <br /> / <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />~/P re% i{teni~ ~' -- <br /> <br /> <br />
