ORDINANCE NQ: 62-82 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, CHinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN ENERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend subparagraph (d) of Section 1329:13 <br />of the Building Code of the £odified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating <br />to permits for painting signs. <br /> WHEREAS, at 'present, Section 1329.13 of the Building Code of the COdi- <br />fied Ordinances of the City of Lakewood provides that the Board of Building <br />Standards approve ail painting of signs irrespective of color, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such requirement in many instances places an undue hardship <br />upon local merchants, particularly when the repalnting is to be done in the same <br />color or in another color not incomparable with the building or the surrounding <br /> <br />neighborhood~ and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is of the <br />the Building Commissioner should have the <br />permit without prior Board approvel, and <br /> <br />opinion that in such instances that <br />authority to issue a sign painting <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for <br />the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for <br />the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That subsection (d) of Section 1329.13 of ~he Building Code <br />of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: <br /> <br />1329.13 APPLICATION FOR PERMITS. <br /> <br />Application for permits to erect, place, paint, illuminate or <br />alter a sign shall be made by the owner or owner's agent of the <br />property for which a sign is proposed. The application shall be <br />submitted on forms furnished by the City and shall be made <br />either separately or with the application for a building permit. <br />The fee for a sign permit shall be established by a separate <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />(a) <br />(b) <br />(c) <br />(d) <br /> <br /> All signs shall be approved by the Board of Building <br /> Standards; however, the Building Commissioner is auth- <br /> orized to issue temporary sign permits. The Building <br /> Commissioner may not issue more than four temporary <br /> permits to an applicant relative to a specific sign per <br /> year. <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> APPL~CAT.u~ FOR ,~,,,IITS <br />1329.13 ' ' F': ~'~ <br /> <br />Application for permits to erect, place, paint, illuminate or <br />alter a sign s~all be ,,~me by ~he owner or owner'~ agent of the <br />property for which a sign is proposed.
