ORDINANCE NQ: 62-82 BY: Brown, CHinnock, Gallagher, Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling AN ENERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend subparagraph (d) of Section 1329:13 of the Building Code of the £odified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood relating to permits for painting signs. WHEREAS, at 'present, Section 1329.13 of the Building Code of the COdi- fied Ordinances of the City of Lakewood provides that the Board of Building Standards approve ail painting of signs irrespective of color, and WHEREAS, such requirement in many instances places an undue hardship upon local merchants, particularly when the repalnting is to be done in the same color or in another color not incomparable with the building or the surrounding neighborhood~ and WHEREAS, this Council is of the the Building Commissioner should have the permit without prior Board approvel, and opinion that in such instances that authority to issue a sign painting WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That subsection (d) of Section 1329.13 of ~he Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 1329.13 APPLICATION FOR PERMITS. Application for permits to erect, place, paint, illuminate or alter a sign shall be made by the owner or owner's agent of the property for which a sign is proposed. The application shall be submitted on forms furnished by the City and shall be made either separately or with the application for a building permit. The fee for a sign permit shall be established by a separate ordinance. (a) (b) (c) (d) All signs shall be approved by the Board of Building Standards; however, the Building Commissioner is auth- orized to issue temporary sign permits.
