ORDINANCE NO: 59-83 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, <br /> Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, <br /> Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the City Engineer to advertise for <br />bids and enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder after advertise- <br />ment according to law for the installation of a new sewer, water main and pave- <br />ment on Rockway Avenue between Detroit Avenue and '¢restlane Avenue in the City of <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Council has determined that the pavement, water main and <br />sewer on Rockway Avenue between Detroit Avenue and Crestlane Avenue are badly <br />deteriorated and in urgent need of replacement, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council has authorized the preparation of construction <br />drawings and specifications by the Lakewood Engineering Department, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the aforementioned construction drawings and specifications <br />are now on file in the City Engineer's office, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department and for the immediate <br />preservation of the public safety and welfare; now, therefore <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the City Engineer be and he is hereby authorized and <br />directed to advertise for bids and enter into a contract with the lowest and best <br />bidder after advertisement according to law for the installation of a new sewer, <br />water main, and pavement on Rockway Avenue between Detroit Avenue and Crestlane <br />Avenue in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the cost of such construction is estimated at $315,000 <br />which funds are now and hereby appropriated from the Community Development Block <br />Grant Funds. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives <br />the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br />Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period <br />allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: ~ ~ <br /> <br />Presi dent <br /> <br />(.C/l er R - - - <br /> <br />Approved:~-~ <br /> <br /> <br />
