ORDINANCE NO~ 111-84 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing .the Mayor as Director of Public Safety to <br />enter into a contract with Sperry-Univac for the purchase of computor hard- <br />ware for the Police Department. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood Police Department has been in the process of converting records <br />and Departmental reports to a computerized system, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, existing computor terminals are insufficient to permit timely up- <br />dating and query of stored data, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, hardware compatible with the existing system is available from only <br />one source, to wit: Sperry-Univac, and can be obtained for a total cost of <br />$13,000.00, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, The Lakewood Police Department has determined that the need for <br />additional terminals is of a higher priority than the replacement of communications <br />equipment, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the <br />immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />usual daily operations of the Police Department; now, therefor, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That is is hereby determined that computor hardware compatible with <br /> the Cuyahoga Regional Information System can not be secured from any source <br /> other than SperryZUnivac, and that the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized <br /> and directed to enter into contract with Sperry-Univac for computor hardware <br /> to be used within the Police Department upon the basis of Sperry-Univac proposal <br /> dated August 30, 1984. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the cost of said contract hereby authorized in the approximate <br /> amount of $13,000 shall be paid from the Fede'~al ~evenue Sharihg~ Fund. <br /> Section 3. That it is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br /> Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were adopted <br /> in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this <br /> Council and of any committees that resulted in such formal action were in meet- <br /> ings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements including <br /> Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this Ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br /> for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the <br /> affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br /> take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the <br /> Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period <br /> allowed by law. <br /> <br />Approved:(~ /7/ <br /> <br /> <br />
