ORDINA,,~E NO. 17-85 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling A~ EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approvlng a Collective Bargaining Agreement with Ohio Council 8 and Local !O43 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO, establishing conditions of emplSyment, working condizions and various benfits for certain employees of the Department of Public Works of the City of Lakewood, and authorizing the Mayor to sign said Agreement on behalf of the City. WHEREAS, a prior Collective Bargaining Agreemen~ entered into between the City of Lakewood and Ohio Council 8 and Local 1043 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal E~ployees AFL-CIO, terminated on February 28, 1955, and WHEREAS, discussions and negotiations have been continued subsequent on behalf of the City with representatives of Local Union !043 and Ohio Council 8 with re-spect to conditions of employment, working conditions and various benefits for certain employees of the Department of Public Uorks of the City of LaKewood, and WHEREAS. an agreement has been reached in the course of said ~iscussions and negotiations with respect to the conditions of employn]ent, working conditions and various benefits fo~ certain employees aforementioned, and WHEREAS, this Council determines that i~ is in the best interest of the City to approve said Collective Bargaining Agreement anJ authorize the Mayor to sign same on behalf of the City of La~ewood, and WHEREAS, this ordinance consitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal department and further for the reason that it is necessary to approve said Agreement at the earliest possible time; now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE~;OOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Ohio Council 8 and Local 1043 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO, effective for the period of March l, 1985 to February 28, 1987, an original copy of which is on file in the Office of the Mayor of the City of Lakewood, and is and is made a part hereof as though written fully herein, is hereby adopted, ratified and approved and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the City of ha~ewood to affix his signature thereto. Section 2. That all other ordinances or resolutions or parts of ordinances or resolutions which are inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance and/or the Collective Bargaining Agreement made a part hereof, are hereby repealed as of ilarch 1, 19~5, to the extent that they pertain to the employees in the bargaining unit covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreei~]ent and are inconsistent with this ordinance, including the Collective Bargaining Agreement referred to herein and made a part hereof.
