ORDINA,,~E NO. 17-85 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Graham, McBride, Salmon, <br /> Wendling <br /> <br /> A~ EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approvlng a Collective Bargaining <br />Agreement with Ohio Council 8 and Local !O43 of the American <br />Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO, <br />establishing conditions of emplSyment, working condizions and <br />various benfits for certain employees of the Department of Public <br />Works of the City of Lakewood, and authorizing the Mayor to sign <br />said Agreement on behalf of the City. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a prior Collective Bargaining Agreemen~ entered <br />into between the City of Lakewood and Ohio Council 8 and Local <br />1043 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal <br />E~ployees AFL-CIO, terminated on February 28, 1955, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, discussions and negotiations have been <br />continued subsequent on behalf of the City with representatives <br />of Local Union !043 and Ohio Council 8 with re-spect to conditions <br />of employment, working conditions and various benefits for <br />certain employees of the Department of Public Uorks of the City <br />of LaKewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS. an agreement has been reached in the course of <br />said ~iscussions and negotiations with respect to the conditions <br />of employn]ent, working conditions and various benefits fo~ <br />certain employees aforementioned, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that i~ is in the best <br />interest of the City to approve said Collective Bargaining <br />Agreement anJ authorize the Mayor to sign same on behalf of the <br />City of La~ewood, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance consitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, <br />safety and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a <br />municipal department and further for the reason that it is <br />necessary to approve said Agreement at the earliest possible <br />time; now therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKE~;OOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Collective Bargaining Agreement <br />with Ohio Council 8 and Local 1043 of the American Federation of <br />State, County and Municipal Employees AFL-CIO, effective for the <br />period of March l, 1985 to February 28, 1987, an original copy of <br />which is on file in the Office of the Mayor of the City of <br />Lakewood, and is and is made a part hereof as though written <br />fully herein, is hereby adopted, ratified and approved and the <br />Mayor is hereby authorized and directed for and on behalf of the <br />City of ha~ewood to affix his signature thereto. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That all other ordinances or resolutions or <br />parts of ordinances or resolutions which are inconsistent with <br />the provisions of this ordinance and/or the Collective Bargaining <br />Agreement made a part hereof, are hereby repealed as of ilarch 1, <br />19~5, to the extent that they pertain to the employees in the <br />bargaining unit covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreei~]ent <br />and are inconsistent with this ordinance, including the <br />Collective Bargaining Agreement referred to herein and made a <br />part hereof. <br /> <br /> <br />
