ORDINANCE NO' ~7 -85 <br /> <br />Brown, Chinnock, Graham, t~cBride, <br />Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EI~RCElqC¥ OItDINANC£ providing for the 'subu~Lssion to the <br />electrrs of the City of I proposed mnd~ent to the ~uded ~rter of <br />the City of b~vood to establish the Depar~nc of Planning and Develop- <br />ment and to provide fo~ the appo~nt~nt of ~ta D~rector ~d h~s ~era, <br />~cies and functions. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the Amended Charter of the City and the <br />Constitution of the State of Ohio, the Council has determined to <br />authorize sad direct the submission to the electors of the City of <br />Lakevood of the proposed Charter a~endBeut hereinafter aec forth, at the <br />general and regular municipal election to be held on November 5, 1985, <br />which election is not less than 60 nor Bore than 120 days from the date <br />of passage of this ordinance; nd <br /> <br /> WltEREAS, this Councilby two-thirds vote of the members elected <br />thereto determines that this ordinance is an emergency measure uhich is <br />necessary for the isnediate preservation of the public peace, property, <br />health and safety and for the lurches reason that this ordinance must be <br />im~ediately effective in order to permit the election herein called to <br />be held on the date speeif~ed in this ordinance; <br /> <br /> NOW, TEEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of <br />Lakevood, Cuyahoga County, Ohio: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Tl~at this Council hereby authorizes and directs <br />the submission to the electors of the City of Lakevood at the general <br />and regular uunicieal election to be held at the usual places of voting <br />in the City on Tuesday, November 5, 1985, of the follovin~ proposal to <br />amend the Amended Charter of the City. <br /> <br /> That Section & of Article II of the Amnded Charter of the <br />City of Lakevood be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION &. NAYOR' S APPOINTIN¢ POb~R. <br /> <br /> Tbs Mayor shall have ps,er to appoint with <br />approval of Council and remove the Director of <br />Public Works and the Director of Public Safety, ~f <br />and when either office is created, the Director of <br />Lay, the Director of Finance, and the Director of <br />Planning and Development, end it shill be the duty <br />of the Mayor to Bake all other appointBents under <br />the provisions of this Charter not herein otherwise <br />provided for by lay or ordinance, and they shall <br />serve until removed by him or until their respective <br />successors are appointed and qualified. <br /> <br /> That Section I of Article IV of the Amended Charter of the <br />City of Lakewood be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />SECTION 1. DEPARTMENTS ESTABLISHED. <br /> <br /> The folloving departments are hereby established <br />by this Charter: Department of Public Works, Depart- <br />Bent of Public Safety, Department of Law, Department <br />of Finance, and DepnrtBent of Planning and Develop- <br />Bent, and the Council shall by ordinance provide for <br />the organization thereof. Council shall have the <br />paver to estsbIish, by ordinance0 additional depart- <br />Bents as the public service Bay require. All <br /> <br /> <br />
