ORDINANCE NO. 110-86 <br /> <br />By: Chinnock, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Sections 1304.01 and 1304.04 of <br />Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of <br />Lakewood providing for standards for electrical materials and installations. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the 1984 National Electrical Code has been amended, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of <br />Lakewood that Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of <br />the City of Lakewood be amended to incorporate the amendments made to the 1984 <br />National Electrical Code, by adopting the 1987 Code into our Ordinances, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and <br />for the further reason that the National Electrical Code, as amended, will go <br />into effect on January 1, 1987 and such amendments should be adopted and <br />become effective by that date; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Section 1304.01 of Chapter 1304 of the Building <br />Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as <br />follows: <br /> <br />1304.01 ADOPTING; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to the provisions of the Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National <br />Electrical Code, being particularly the 1984 edition thereof, designated <br />ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1984, is hereby adopted by the City and incorporated by <br />reference as a part of the Building Code of the City of Lakewood as if fully <br />set out herein, except such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or <br />deleted. The purpose of a National Electrical Code as adopted herein is the <br />practical safeguarding of persons, buildings and dwellings, and their contents <br />from hazards arising from the use of electricity for heat, light and power and <br />for other purposes. <br /> <br />shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />1304.01 ADOPTION; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to the provisions of Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National <br />Electrical Code, being particularly the 1987 edition thereof, designated <br />ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1987, is hereby adopted bY the City and incorporated by <br />reference as a part of the Building Code of the City of Lakewood as if fully <br />set out herein, except such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or <br />deleted.
