ORDINANCE NO. 61-86

<br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE approving a collective bargaining
<br />agreement with Local #382, International Association of Fire Fighters,
<br />AFL-CI0, establishing conditions of employment, working conditions and
<br />various benefits for certain employees of the Department of Public
<br />Safety of the City of Lakewood, and authorizing the Mayor to sign said
<br />agreement on behalf of the City.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, a prior collective bargaining agreement entered into
<br />between the City of Lakewood and Local #382, International Association
<br />of Fire Fighters, AFL-CI0, terminated on December 31, 1985, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, discussions and negotiations have been continued
<br />subsequently on behalf of the City with representatives of Local #382,
<br />International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CI0, with respect to
<br />couditions of employment, working conditions, and various benefits for
<br />certain employees of the Department-of Public Safety of the City of
<br />Lakewood, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, agreement has been reached in the course of said
<br />discussions and negotiations with respect to the conditions of
<br />employment, working conditions and various benefits for certain
<br />employees aforementioned, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Council determines that it is in the best
<br /> interest of the City to approve said collective bargaining agreement
<br /> and authorize the Mayor to sign same on behalf of the City, and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, this Ordinance constitutes an emergency measure
<br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety
<br />and welfare and for the usual daily operation of a municipal
<br />department, and for the further reason that it is necessary to approve
<br />said agreement at the earliest possible time; now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEW00D, STATE
<br />OF 0HI0:

<br /> Section 1. That the collective bargaining agreement with
<br />Local #382, International Association of Fire Fighters, AFL-CI0, and
<br />effective for the period of January 1, 1986 to December 31, 1988, an
<br />original copy of which is on file in the Office of the Mayor of the
<br />City of Lakewood and is made a part hereof as though written fully
<br />herein, is hereby adopted, ratified and approved, and the Mayor is
<br />hereby authorized and 'directed for and on behalf of the City of
<br />Lakewood to affix his signature thereto.
<br />
<br /> Section 2. That all other ordinances Or resolutions or parts
<br />of ordinances or resolutions which are inconsistent with the
<br />provisions of this Ordinance and/or the collective bargaining
<br />agreement made a part hereof, are hereby repealed as of January 1,
<br />1986, to the extent that they pertain to the employees in the
<br />bargaining unit covered by the collective bargaining agreement and are
<br />inconsistent with this Ordinance, including the collective bargaining
<br />agreement referred to herein and made a part hereof.
